“HORIZONS OF CIVILIZATION”

Dates of conference: 12–15 May 2010.

Place of conference: Chelyabinsk region, Arkaim

The conference is the starting point for cross-scientific research of the problematic complex, linked with basic reference points of development of human civilization in the environment of rapidly globalizing world.

The result of the conference is the creation of program of scientific meetings in different fields, researching single aspects of subject, as well as determination of dates and forms of summary for those scientific meetings/

Thus, the conference is the first projective part of three-step scientific research collective model: participants within the sections have to develop a plan for conference of some narrow direction, researching certain aspects of problem; the results in their turn will become the subject of final summarizing conference, focused to clearly position the collective vision of the main problem.

Prior subjects of research grounds:

1. “Limits of growth” of civilization as multi-aspect problem

– demographic forecast in 19-20^th centuries and social problems;
– ecolgy and social responsibility
– economy of crisis
– natural resources and civilization of the 21^st century
– statehood of today
– condition of basic social institutions in the beginning of the 21^st century

2. Society of material consumption in the forecast aspect

– philosophy of consumption (mass-media, advertisement, literature, cinema, art as reflection of condition of consuming society)
– to the question of scientific crisis;
– utopia, distopia and antiutopia as forecast models;
– branch forecast schemes (agriculture, industry, social sphere, art)
– basic concepts of development of consuming society

3. “Place of inhabitance” as scientific problem

– megapolis as the projection of contemporary social system and development of large cities as a social problem
– «village format»: «a country house», «dacha», «cottage», «mansion» as concepts
– condition of villages and problem of “coutry way of living”
– problem of motherland in the globalizing world
– “settled” and “nomadic” way of life in the 21^st century (including the problem of migration)
– “revolution of regions” and the problem of disenlarging in the post-industrial society

4. Basic demands as spiritual problem

– philosophy of feeding (ethnological, cultural, medical and ideological aspects)
– philosophy of breeding
– concept of self-protection as mental and spiritual category
– ecology of human area in the aspect of morality

5. Society of spiritual production as possible vector of civilization development

– forecast models of spiritual domination in social life
– conflict of material and spiritual and ways for overcoming the conflict
– spirituality as philosophical category
– history of spiritual research
– religion and society of spiritual production
– national and global dialectics: to the question of keeping multiplicity of cultural world models
– synthetism of new type in science and art (return to the systematic mentality of pre-logical period in the epoch of postmodernism)
– problem of self-perfection and self-realization in the aspect of morality.

Application forms in other aspects of problems under discussion are accepted too.

Conditions of participation in the conference: applications with mark of direction the participant is going to take are accepted until 30 April 2009. The form of application includes thesis (not more than 500 words). The organization committee decides whether to include the thesis in the program. Grant is planning to be obtained though organization committee can not guarantee coverage of transportation fee and living costs. The fee for participation is 500 rubles which is demanded after the approval for the participating in the program. No correspondence participation is planned. The collection of conference materials will have been published by the beginning of the conference. Working languages include Russian and English.
